IVF Incubator Monitoring
Following on from our latest application looking at H2O2 sterilization for cleanrooms and laboratories, this week we’re taking a look at the regulations for IVF incubator monitoring and how to protect embryos using an independent, wireless, temperature monitoring systems.
Incubator temperatures are typically set at 98.6 °F (37°C) to mimic body temperature, however in a recent study “temperatures differed significantly among top, middle and bottom shelves and between the front and back shelve compartments.” Any temperature fluctuations can be detrimental to the fertilization of the embryos as “prolonged exposure of cultures to temperatures other than optimal 37C (98.6F) reduces the ability of fertilization and nullifies… subsequent achievement of pregnancy.” and so whilst incubators have their own monitoring capabilities, national regulatory authorities recommend that laboratories should implement a secondary independent monitoring system for each incubator to ensure the safety of embryos and ensure regulatory compliance.
Hanwell environmental monitoring technology uses highly accurate probes to measure a range of parameters specifically for use in these environments. Our RL4012 wireless data logger uses high precision thermistor probe combined with a CO2 sensor for 0-5% and 0-10% CO2 measurements. Laboratory technicians can clearly identify laboratory conditions via ARB display unit for each incubator sensor whilst simultaneously recording data 24/7 for auditing purposes via Hanwell EMS.
Our technology is unrivaled in radio telemetry, easily expanded as your requirements grow and is validatable for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance requirements.
To find out more about why you should implement a wireless temperature monitoring system, such as our Hanwell Pro or Hanwell IceSpy systems in your IVF laboratory, contact our VP Meredith Paetz, today.
Always ask for a signal strength test
Typical wireless systems using independent radio technology have wireless radio ranges of around 328 ft; whereas Hanwell wireless technology using Hanwell Pro or Hanwell IceSpy line of sight can reach up to 10,000 ft.
We recommend that you always ask for a long-range signal strength test before you purchase your wireless system, we can guarantee ours to be unrivaled.
