Often damp can go unnoticed for a while until it becomes clearly visible through tide marks on walls and by this point the damage has already been done. It’s not just the appearance of walls that is affected by damp but the deterioration of plaster and masonry as well as timber decay that all leads to unhealthy and dangerous conditions for occupants in the building. Some treatments for damp in older buildings can cause more harm than years of degradation which is disruptive and costly to fix.

There are 3 main causes of damp:

• Air Moisture Condensation – caused by everyday activities such as cooking, heating and even breathing!
• Penetrating Damp – caused by exposed building parts that are vulnerable to rain such as roofs, chimneys and parapets.
• Internal Spillage – caused by an overflowing sink, gradual break down of pipes or burst pipes, water tanks or emersion heaters.

The Solution

Our range of humidifiers and dehumidifiers are available to help monitor and control humidity levels to reduce air moisture condensation in buildings. Selected humidifiers and dehumidifiers can be automatically controlled using cost-effective humidistats for standalone solutions or interfaced into a local BMS for automated control if constant and consistent conditions are critical.

DampWatch is also available to detect moisture well before long-term damage can set in ultimately eliminating time-consuming building repairs due to penetrating damp. DampWatch uses Wood Moisture Equivalent (WME) measurements to detect moisture in multiple areas which makes it a great option if you have damp in various places.

GutterWatch is another product available that assists with gutter overflow. It monitors wirelessly and alerts you via SMS if there is a blockage which saves you from using expensive high access equipment as well as helping to prevent any long-term damage. FloodWatch is a solution suited for internal spillage. It works by the flood cable being shorted when contact with water occurs, sending out an alarm signal. These cables can be run along key areas enabling quick notifications of water leakage before any serious damage can be done.
